Sedimentation and Erosion Control Certification Practice Exam

A floating turbidity curtain is designed specifically to contain sediment-laden water and prevent the dispersion of suspended particles into the surrounding water body. The primary function of this barrier is to isolate a contaminated area during construction or remediation activities, ensuring that sediment does not migrate to cleaner areas, which could harm aquatic life and water quality.

By effectively trapping sediment within a specified area, turbidity curtains help maintain water clarity and prevent adverse environmental impacts that can arise from sediment runoff. This containment strategy is essential in environments where projects may disturb the soil, leading to increased turbidity and sedimentation in adjacent water bodies. Hence, the purpose of a floating turbidity curtain aligns directly with the goal of protecting water resources from sediment pollution during construction or similar activities.
